Why buy fire doors as complete doorsets?
A fire rating belongs to the tested assembly, not to a door leaf on its own. That shapes how we quote and fit every door.
Certification you can check
We put the manufacturer's certificate reference against every doorset on your quote, so you, your assessor or building control can verify it before work starts.
Doorsets, not bare leaves
Fire ratings belong to the tested doorset. We supply the leaf, frame, seals, hinges and closer as one set rather than hanging a new leaf in an unknown frame.
Fitted as tested
Gaps, fixings, frame-to-wall sealing and hardware positions follow the manufacturer's instructions and BS 8214:2026 guidance.
Paperwork that lasts
Your handover pack lists every door, its rating, its certificate reference, photos and maintenance notes for your fire safety records.

Fire door questions
What is a fire rated door?
A fire rated door is a doorset tested to hold back fire — and, with an S rating, cold smoke — for a set time, such as 30 minutes for FD30. The rating belongs to the complete doorset: leaf, frame, seals, hinges, closer and locking, fitted as tested.
Do you sell fire doors or fit them?
We supply and fit. Certification for most fire doorsets depends on correct installation, so we survey, supply the certified doorset and install it, with a handover pack at the end.
How much does a fire door cost?
A single FD30 doorset typically costs £750 to £1,150 supplied and fitted, ex VAT. FD60, glazed, steel and security doorsets cost more. Your survey quote is fixed and itemised.
Where do you work?
England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Each nation has its own building and fire safety rules, and we specify to the rules where your building is.
Are your doors certified?
Every doorset we quote carries third-party certification from its manufacturer, and the certificate reference is on your quote. Certification belongs to the manufacturer's tested doorset, not to us.
Is the survey free?
Yes. We measure each opening and send a door-by-door quote at no cost.
Can you replace doors that failed a fire door inspection?
Yes. Send us the inspection report or fire risk assessment and we'll quote the replacements it calls for.
How long does fitting take?
Most single doorsets take a few hours to fit once they're made. Lead times for doorsets depend on type and size, and we confirm the programme on your quote.

What FD30, E30, EI30, Sa and S200 mean on a fire door, how British and European ratings compare, and which you'll see on specifications from now on.

BS 476 is leaving Approved Document B: what changes for fire doors?
The BS 476 fire resistance tests leave Approved Document B on 2 September 2029. What that means for FD ratings, existing doors and new specifications.

BS 8214:2026: what the new fire door code of practice changes
BSI published BS 8214:2026 in March 2026. It now covers timber, steel, glazed and composite fire doors, with stronger installation and frame-sealing guidance.

What gaps should a fire door have?
Fire door gaps are typically around 3mm at the sides and head, with the threshold set by the manufacturer. Why gaps matter and what to do when they're wrong.
